Guelphல் Begging Bear திரும்ப வந்தது..!

Begging Bear மீள் நிர்மாணிக்கப்படுகின்றது.

கடந்த March மாதம் Guelph University க்கு அருகில் இருந்த Begging Bear மீது இளைஞர்கள் கூட்டம் ஒன்று தாவி ஏறி விளையாடியதில் (?) இந்த Begging Bear  குடைசாய்தது. இதனால் இந்த Begging Bear  சிலை உருக்குலைந்த நிலையில் அப்போது அப்புறப்படுத்தப்பட்டது.

தற்போது Begging Bear பழையபடி தனது இருப்பிடத்திற்கு புதிப்பிக்கப்பட்டு வந்துள்ளது. இதற்குண்டான செலவு 11,300 டாலர்களாகும்! அன்று இந்த இடத்தை கடந்து சென்ற வாகனங்கள் அனைத்தும் தம் மகிழ்ச்சியை தெரிக்கும் முகமாக Horn அடித்துச்சென்றனர்.

இந்த இளைஞர்கள் கூட்டம் பற்றிய தகவல் அறிய பொலிசார் மக்களின் உதவியை நாடியிருந்தும், இதுவரை  எவரையும்  கண்டுபிடிக்கப் படவில்லை என பொலிசார் இன்று தெரிவித்தனர்.

 Carl Skelton என்பவரால் வடிவமைக்கப்பட்டு 1999ல் நிர்மாணிக்கப்பட்டது. 71/2 அடி உயரமும், 350 lbs நிறையும் கொண்டது இந்த சிலை.

Guelph Data Centre Is Leader In Energy Efficiency And Security

Guelph Southendல் புதிய DATA Center ஒன்றை வெள்ளிக்கிழமை திறக்கவுள்ளனர்.  இங்கு சேமிக்கப்படும் தகவல்கள் பூமி அதிர்ச்சியினாலோ, சூராவளியினாலோ சேதம் அடையாமல் இருக்கும் வண்ணம் வடிவமைக்கப்பட்டுள்ளது.



new data centre that the province has officially opened in south Guelph is designed to keep providing vital data even during a tornado or earthquake.

At the new facility at 1000 Southgate Dr., such disasters “will not interrupt the flow of information so critical to life in the province,” Minister of Government Services Harinder Takhar said at the opening Friday.

There’s just a skeleton staff at the facility now, but over the next year more staff will arrive as data applications are transferred from the old Downsview data centre. In all, 30 permanent jobs will be created at the Guelph facility, on top of the 400 construction jobs involved in building it, reporters were told.

The province has been consolidating data operations and closing dozens of such centres, many of them small, since 2005. Six are still operating, including the new one in Guelph. The ultimate goal is to reduce that number to two, including the one in Guelph, said Ron McKerlie, the deputy minister of government services.

Cycling on Stone Road

Drivers and cyclists should find it easier to share Stone Road

The city is completing some truly innovative cycling facilities along Stone Road. Segregated bike lanes (also called a cycling track), sharrows and Guelph’s first bike box are designed to make it safer and easier for drivers, cyclists and pedestrians to share the road.

Ontario’s first Cycling Track – nearing completion

This raised, paved track runs between the sidewalk and the road giving cyclists a dedicated, more comfortable space in which to ride. The track, located on Stone Road between Gordon Street to Edinburgh Road, will be the first of its kind in Ontario when it is completed later this week.

Special markings called Sharrows (see below) will be used to mark where cyclists move in to or out of the track. Cycling tracks are being used in Montreal, Vancouver and Richmond.

Sharrows

You’ll see sharrows on Stone Road and on Gordon Street. Sharrows are used where a segregated bike lane begins or ends, or in areas where there is potential for cyclists and drivers to come into conflict. Sharrows show cyclists where to ride, and remind drivers to look out for cyclists merging into traffic.

Guelph’s first bike box

At the intersection of Stone Road and South Ring Road, a marked bike box gives cyclists a dedicated space to wait in front of cars at a red light. Right-turning drivers check to see that the bike box and bike lane are clear before turning right. Cyclists move through the intersection first when the light turns green, and proceed into the bike lane. Bike boxes are being used in Vancouver and Toronto.
