Plan for a fun-filled Family Day

The Guelph Civic Museum is normally closed on Mondays but Val Harrison, coordinator of public programs, said Family Day has been overwhelmingly popular, so they are doing it again. The museum will be open from 1 to 5 p.m. with lots of activities in the children’s gallery and ‘Rag and Bones’ with storyteller Brad Woods at 2 p.m. Admission is half-price that day. Guelph Civic Museum is located at 6 Dublin St. S. Visit www.guelpharts.ca/guelphmuseums/ for more information, or call 519-836-1221

The Macdonald Stewart Art Centre has a number of one-hour workshops from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., plus its exhibits to see.
From 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. it’s Pollock in the Park — participants with use sticks and brushes to emulate Jackson Pollock’s famous drip painting style on 15-foot canvasses. This will be messy warns Aiden Ware, the art centre’s coordinator of education and development.
From 11 a.m. to noon artists-in-residence Ehryn Torrell and Annelore Schneider will work on a collaborative project, and the public will have a chance to join in too. Torrell’s work is on exhibit in the gallery, also open for view.
From noon to 1 p.m. there’s a sketching exercise called Home is Where the Art is, where participants draw the art work they see in the gallery and sculpture park that they’d like to see in their homes.
From 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. the art centre will screen a documentary about Ken Danby, followed by a guided painting lesson based on his painting Guelph Carousel, which he donated to the art centre.
From 3 to 4 p.m. it’s Art Act, where participants will make a play based on a work of art.
There will be a display of art created by students at John F. Ross, St. James Catholic and Centennial high schools. Guests are also invited to dress the bear.

The Guelph Grotto plans on being open from 10 a.m. to 10:30 p.m. and most movie theatres will also be open on Family Day.
Guelph’s YMCA-YWCA will hold a number of kid-friendly activities including drumming, art, swimming, face painting, zumba classes and a movie. An all-day pass for non-member kids is $5. Children must be accompanied by an adult; suggested donation $1 or $2 for the Y’s Strong Kids campaign. Visit www.guelphy.org for more details.

But city buses will not run on Monday and public pools, libraries and arenas will be closed
அப்பறம் என்ன, குடும்பத்தாருடன் கொண்டாடவேண்டியதுதானே?
